EXPECTD  OUTCOME

At the end of the course, a learner should be able to

  1. apply principles and concepts of clinical pharmacology, clinical toxicology, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacovigilance, pharmacogenomics and pharmacoepidemiology in par with recent advances in clinical pharmacy practice
  2. work as a competent clinical pharmacist in Clinical Pharmacy/ Pharmacology Department/ Unit in tertiary hospitals to monitor and solve drug-related problems

 

Duration of the Course

The duration of the course is three years.
If the candidate will not be able to complete the research within the time frame according to the "Structured Programme", application for extension must be submitted within 30 months of the course, which will be considered by the Postgraduate Board of Studies and must be submitted to the Academic Board of the University.
Chairman of the Postgraduate Board of Study must ensure that the candidate acquires adequate knowledge and skill, as well as advances in the field of Clinical Pharmacy through continuous monitoring and supervision.

6. Structured Programme

Time frame

Structured Programme

First Year

1.

Keep log book of activities.

2.

Exposure to Common Module of Department of Medical Science (two weeks) (e.g. research methodology)

3.

Presentation of given assignments and active participation in discussions

4.

Literature review for selection of research topic

5.

Discuss topic selection with head of the department and relevant resource persons

6.

Protocol submission within nine months (pilot study of methods to be used if necessary)

7.

Protocol defense to the Board of Postgraduate Study for approval (Ethical approval if required)

Second Year

1.

Start research work (can start earlier after approval of protocol)

2.

Keep log book of academic activities

3.

Report regularly on progress of research work to the head of the department (every 3 months or as required)

4.

Scientific talks related to thesis (at least two)

5.

Short term training/methodology development in foreign countries (whenever possible)

Third Year

1.

Continue research work

2.

Data analysis and thesis writing

3.

Publish certain aspects of research work in local/international journals (at least one article) if possible

4.

Scientific talks related to thesis

5.

Submission of thesis to the Board of Examiners in time
